Cine Films to DVD

We can transfer your old movies to DVD, and then we can copy the DVD to make it easier for you to SHARE all those great old memories with family and friends.

Super 8, Standard 8, 16mm and even 9.5mm Centre Perf Pathe can be copied onto DVD for you to preserve those old memories.

Many movie films are starting to show signs of age, so don’t delay in archiving those old moving memories onto DVD.

How do you transfer the cine films?

8mm & super 8 are now transferred using the NEW Flashscan HD system

The flashscan is a high precision servo system with continuous film movement. There's NO pulldown claw to damage film! The light passes through a diffusing system that helps minimise the appearance of scratches on the base side of the film. Passing through the film, the images are captured by a high quality 3CCD camera head with 800 TV lines of resolution and more pixels on the imaging chips than are in an NTSC or PAL standard definition image. Starting with more resolution and pixels at the transfer means better images downstream.

Elmo Transvideo machines for 16mm. These machines were specifically built for the purpose. We do not use old and badly maintained home projectors and a screen, ours is a sealed system designed to achieve quality results.

Most cine film is in surprisingly good condition and only needs dusting with compressed air during the transfer. Other cleaning methods can actually do more harm than good. Several companies offer a cleaning service which involves wiping with swabs soaked in isopropyl alcohol. This will lift the dirt but will also dry the film making it more brittle and if the dirt builds up on the swab it will scratch the film.

Smaller size reels 50ft ( 3” dia) & 200ft (6” dia) will be spliced onto larger 600ft sized reels to make a much smoother transfer.

You will then get back your Cine film on the larger spool, the existing empty spools will then be disposed of unless you specify there return.

If you would prefer us not to transfer the small reels onto a larger reel please specify this when you bring in your order.

Tell me about the DVD’s you make?

We can offer standard branded DVD’s or Archival DVD’s which are guaranteed for 100 years (additional charge), and additional copy DVD's are available for just £10.00 each. All DVD’s are –R format for maximum compatibility but we can transfer onto +R discs on request.

DVD’s are labelled and packaged in Amaray anti stress cases to protect you DVD for years to come.

Will I get my old Cine films back?

Yes, your cine films will be returned.

Can I have a AVI file?

Yes we can supply high quality AVI files, if you would like this in addition to the DVD. Please enquire for pricing.
